School Advisory Committee

Every school in the state is currently eligible to receive money for their School Advisory Committee (SAC). To receive the money, the school must form a School Advisory Committee made up of an equal number of staff members and parents. The role of the SAC is to assist in the development and implementation of an improvement plan for the school. Each school’s SAC includes the site principal, classroom teachers, other school personnel, and parents or other community members. Except for the principal, members are elected or selected by their respective constituencies.  It is often hard to fill parental positions for SAC, so be sure to let the VES principal know if you are interested in becoming a member, and remember that these meetings are always open to the public.

Some of the SAC's responsibilities include:

  • Curricular funding
  • Support for educational programs and incentives
  • Development of the VES School Site Plan
  • Review of the Local Control Area Plan (LCAP)

Meetings are held once every other month and all parents/community members are invited to attend.

SAC meetings will be held from 3:00 - 4:30pm. Please check with the office for exact locations.

**All meetings are subject to change without prior notice.
